In a small beautiful town in South Africa, called East London, God brought together a chocolate girl from Mthatha, SA and a vanilla boy from Alabama, USA. Together they made a beautiful caramel baby girl!

This blog is for my sweet caramel Olivia. I am so in love with her! Being a first time mommy comes with many challenges, but they can never outweigh the sweet love, the sweet joy and the sweet adventures!

I cannot begin to describe the explosion of love that I felt when I first held her tiny body. Each day the love I have for her grows stronger. How can it not, when every time she looks at me I see eyes filled with pure and unconditional love? She brings so much joy into my life. I feel it so tangibly at times, I could almost touch it and squeeze it! When she sees me walk into the room and gives me the biggest, cutest, toothless smile...and when she dives into my face with the sloppiest kisses, more like licks! Not a single day goes by without my reaching a new level of joy!  Indeed the adventure of being a first time parent is priceless!

So much advice, so many books, opinions, research, etc -Yet I am loving the adventure of just stumbling along, enjoying the journey and discovering what works for me and my baby.  Olivia is blessed to have parents who come from very different cultures, different backgrounds, different upbringings. That in itself is a sweet adventure!

Mommy

I'm not much of a writer, but being a mommy has awakened something in me to want to share life's beautiful moments through words.  I enjoy learning new creative skills, although I have a habit of starting something, enjoying it for a while, then moving on to the next thing...But that's alright, there are no rules in creativity!  I taught myself crochet, baking and card making.  And I would love to learn photography, sewing, painting and writing.

Daddy

Olivia has the most amazing daddy ever. He is patient, gentle, kind and so loving! He is the best thing that God ever created for Olivia and me. He has such a genuine and pure love for people. He loves writing and is super good at it! (I know, he could teach me a thing or two!) He is the cutest when playing with Olivia. He can makes her laugh more than I do.

Olivia

Sweet, sweet caramel! She loves to grab anything and everything and attempt to put it in her mouth. She loves her mommy's and daddy's attention and being tickled by them! Her happy place is when she is tightly wrapped against her mommy's chest.

I think we are the cutest little family!
