1/52 and 2/52

I am excited to be taking part in the "52 Project" again this year, taking a photo of each of my children every week of the year to document their growth as well as improve my photography. This project, hosted by Australian blogger Jodie of "Practising Simplicity" connects moms and photographers from all around the world who take part in it. I thoroughly enjoyed the project in 2013 and 2014, even though I did not complete it last year.

Well, let's give it a try again this year and see how it goes!

1/52

Olivia: A little treat for having your hair done.

Owen: Splash! Splash! Splash! Oh what what fun!

2/52

Olivia: A fun fun sunny day!

Owen: This baby is growing into a little boy!

Mama-made: Shweshwe pinafore dress

A few months ago when I made a shweshwe dress for Olivia, I was asked by a friend to make something similar for a seven month old little girl. I was delighted by the request and definitely up for the challenge.

I enjoyed making this lovely little shweshwe pinafore and learnt a few new sewing techniques in the process, such as sewing button holes and appliqué (the elephant). This pinafore is super versatile, it is reversible so it can be worn either showing the beautiful shweshwe print or the cute elephant. It also works for all seasons, just pair it with a long sleeved undershirt and leggings for winter and wear with the nappy cover cover or shorts in summer. The bonus is that it can be worn as a dress from as young as six months old and can later convert to a top as the child grows. Below it is worn by a nine month old and two and a half year old.
