Summer wardrobe and new beginnings for Olivia

Our big girl started "big" school a few weeks ago. It has been quite a transition for her that has required much courage, but she has handled it wonderfully. Wow! She teaches me so much about vulnerability, strength and perseverance. What a blessing and privilege it is to parent and walk with her as she increasingly discovers that she is victorious over any and every fear she will ever face!

As part of preparing for her new school, Olivia and I started working on some Summer clothes for her in Spring of last year. They haven't all worked for school wear, but she changes into dresses everyday when she gets home, so lovingly using them one way or another.

I love sewing with Olivia. It is a special time of teaching, learning, chatting, laughing and disagreeing! Our styles could not be more different. At this point, I must admit, she does more compromising than I do...I know, I know! I probably should allow her to go wild with her imagination and embrace the butterflies, rainbows, unicorns and explosions of pink and purple. We do have an agreement though - I don't interfere with her fabric choices and designs for pyjamas and dolls clothes, so I would say we have a plan that works...for now.

Here are some of the clothes we made for her Summer wardrobe. She was an absolute champion modeling these for me to take photos, as it was not the most exciting way to spend two hours of a Saturday afternoon.  In the end, a big bowl of popcorn was all the encouragement needed!

Summer/Spring wardrobe for one year old Musa

Our sweet boy turned one year old last month and I could not think of a greater gift than lovingly made, much needed summer clothes. Okay, maybe he could do with some new toys of his own that are not broken. Santa will certainly do something about that because this little boy is the sweetest thing alive, except at night time. Shhh, let's not talk about that!

One of Musa's very favourite things to do is getting muddy in the playhouse with his sister. They play hard, sometimes for hours and get thoroughly covered in mud! It is a delight to see them enjoy themselves, although I can't say the same about hand washing their clothes! Now he has new (mostly white) clothes to make happy, muddy memories in.

Happy new year of your life Musa, our daily reminder of God's mercy and grace.
